Juno Help Center

Practical guides for the daily Juno workflows: capture work, connect calendars and inboxes, plan a realistic day, focus, and close the loop.

Getting Started

Tasks and subtasks

Capture work as tasks, break it into subtasks, and keep today finishable.

Create a task

  • Click the + button at the top of any column.
  • Or press C while hovering over a column.
  • Or use the command menu (Cmd/Ctrl + K), then choose "Add task".

Fields you can set on a task

FieldWhat it does
TitleThe outcome you want
NotesContext, links, or details
DayWhen you plan to work on it
Due dateWhen the work is actually due
Time estimateDrives realistic daily planning
Context / tagGroups related work (see Contexts and tags)
SubtasksMulti-step breakdown

Juno distinguishes day from due date on purpose. A day is your plan to work on something. A due date is an external deadline. Keeping those separate makes the daily plan calmer and more honest.

Add subtasks

Open the task and use the subtask area to add steps. Press Enter to add the next subtask, Tab to indent, Shift + Tab to outdent.

Subtasks are part of the parent until you decide otherwise. Completing a parent updates the related subtasks; completing all subtasks rolls up to the parent.

Write better tasks

  • Name the outcome, not the activity. "Send draft to Anna" beats "work on draft".
  • Keep a task close in size to one focus block. If it doesn't fit one, it probably needs subtasks.
  • If you can't say when you'll do it, add a context and put it in the backlog instead of today.

Where tasks fit elsewhere

Common mistakes

  • Long lists of vague tasks create stress, not clarity.
  • Putting due dates on tasks that don't have a real deadline. Use day for "I plan to do this Tuesday"; use due date only for real deadlines.
